Hussain Jan Naveed Founder & Artistic Director of Bamiyan Art,
Hussain Jan Naveed is a sculptor, visual artist, educator, and stone art researcher from Afghanistan. He graduated in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kabul University and has more than a decade of professional experience in stone sculpture, ceramics, restoration of historical artifacts, handicrafts, wood arts, and art education. His professional career has been shaped by a commitment to combining Afghanistan’s rich artistic traditions with contemporary sculptural practices. His works are created using natural stones such as travertine, marble, granite, onyx, and other decorative stones. Recognized for their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and cultural identity, his artworks have been exported to various countries across the Middle East and Asia.
Throughout his artistic career, Hussain Jan Naveed has designed and executed dozens of stone sculptures, relief carvings, fountains, decorative columns, stone benches, public monuments, and architectural stoneworks. He also possesses specialized expertise in the carving and processing of precious and semi-precious stones, including lapis lazuli, jade, and nephrite.
He has contributed to the restoration of historical artifacts at the National Museum of Afghanistan and has spent many years teaching sculpture, ceramics, and traditional crafts, training numerous students and emerging artists. In addition, he has managed specialized sculpture workshops in Afghanistan and Iran and has participated in a wide range of artistic and urban development projects. Among his most notable achievements are the creation of one of the largest stone eagle sculptures, the execution of large-scale public artworks, the organization of the “Color and Stone” exhibition, the creation of an eagle sculpture for Kabul University, and the export of artistic works to international markets. His artistic activities have also been featured in Afghan media. Through the establishment of Bamiyan Art, Hussain Jan Naveed seeks to introduce Afghanistan’s stone carving and sculptural heritage to global audiences.
The mission of Bamiyan Art is to create high-quality artistic works, preserve Afghanistan’s cultural and artistic heritage, educate the next generation of artists, and expand international collaboration in the field of visual arts.
